[0001] [0001] The present invention relates to liquid drug transfer assemblies for reconstitution of the liquid drug and purposes of administration. Background of the Invention
[0002] [0002] Linear transfer clamps of double lumen with double end are typically employed for gravitational transfer of liquid from an ampoule of liquid containing a liquid component to a drug ampoule containing a drug component to form the liquid drug contents in the ampoule of drug for purposes of administration and simultaneous air transfer from the drug vial to the liquid vial for pressure equalization. The transfer clamps expose the closure of the drug vial and the puncture member of the liquid vial closure with puncture tips of the sharp vial closure that pose a danger to users in general and home users in particular. In addition, it is difficult to precisely center and correctly insert a transfer clamp into an ampoule closure to ensure that the transfer clamp correctly perforates it for fluid communication with an interior of the ampoule. In addition, a user has to manually remove the transfer clamp and use other means, for example, a needle, to remove the liquid drug contents which can be a complicated action leading to a needle wound and contamination of the liquid drug contents . Summary of the Invention
[0003] [0003] The invention relates to liquid drug transfer assemblies for use with a drug vial including a drug vial bottle containing a drug component and having a drug vial opening stopped by a drug vial closure. The drug component is typically a powdered drug component, but it can also be a liquid drug component of different viscosities. The liquid drug transfer assemblies include a puncture member of the drug vial closure and a drug vial adapter having a substantially cylindrical drug vial adapter skirt with an upper surface of the drug vial adapter, a part of drug ampoule adapter body to telescope slidably receive an opening of the drug ampoule in it and a skirt edge of the drug ampoule adapter. The upper surface of the drug vial adapter is formed with a vertical drug vial adapter port and a dependent dependent drug vial adapter sleeve opposite the drug vial adapter port and in fluid communication with it. The drug vial adapter skirt can optionally be formed from a wide variety of at least two flexing members of the drug vial adapter. The drug vial adapter skirt can optionally include protrusions directed inwardly to snap into an opening of the drug vial. The skirt edge of the drug vial adapter can optionally be externally enlarged with respect to the body part of the drug vial adapter to assist in guiding the drug vial adapter into a drug vial. The drug vial adapter is slidably arranged on the drug vial closure puncture member so that its drug vial closure puncture member projects beyond the drug vial adapter sleeve into a configuration position of the drug assembly. liquid drug transfer.
[0004] [0004] The liquid drug transfer assembly is mounted in a drug vial so that the puncture member of the drug vial closure punctures the drug vial closure to form a complete perforation hole and the adapter sleeve of the drug vial. drug vial aligns with the puncture hole through the closure of the drug vial. The drug vial adapter sleeve for the closure of the drug vial is sealed upon withdrawal of the puncture member from the closure of the drug vial, thus maintaining continuous fluid communication between the drug vial bottle and the adapter port of the drug vial. The adapter sleeve of the drug vial also prevents debris from the closure of the drug vial that contaminates the contents of liquid drug in a drug vial. Suitable medical devices can be readily mounted on the drug vial adapter port for fluid communication with the drug vial bottle. Suitable medical devices include, among others, a needle-free syringe, an administration line, and the like.
[0005] [0005] The puncture member of the drug vial closure can be configured as one end of a double lumen linear transfer clamp with double end including an opposite puncture member of the liquid vial closure to pierce a vial closure. liquid from an ampoule of liquid containing a liquid component. The liquid component is typically a diluent, but it can also contain an active drug component. Such a double lumen linear transfer clamp with double end allows simultaneous gravitational liquid transfer from a liquid vial to a drug vial to form the liquid drug contents in a drug vial for the purpose of administration and air transfer of the vial drug to liquid ampoule for pressure equalization purposes.
[0006] [0006] The linear transfer clip of the double lumen with double end can be integrally formed with a liquid ampoule adapter to mount in a liquid ampoule. Alternatively, the double-ended double lumen linear transfer clamp can be integrally formed with a liquid drug transfer device for use with a discrete liquid ampule adapter to mount in a liquid ampoule thus forming a transfer assembly of triple component liquid drug including the drug vial adapter. The liquid drug transfer device includes a directionally spaced ring transversely midway between the double lumen double transfer linear clamp, at least two longitudinally directed drug ampoule legs and at least two directed liquid ampoule legs. longitudinally opposite to at least the two longitudinally directed legs of the drug vial. The legs of the drug vial and the legs of the liquid vial are used to centralize the purposes of its puncture tip of the corresponding drug vial closure and the puncture tip of the liquid vial closure with respect to their respective vial closures. [0044] [00044] Detailed Description of the Preferred Modalities of the Invention
[0045] [00045] Figure 1 shows a liquid drug transfer assembly 100A for use with a needleless syringe 10 and a drug vial 20. Syringe 10 includes a barrel 11 with a plunger 12 and a male Luer lock connector 13. Syringe 10 can be formed with other types of male connectors. Syringe 10 is filled with a liquid component 14. The liquid component 14 can be diluent only. Alternatively, the liquid component 14 can include an active component. The drug vial 20 has a longitudinal axis of the drug vial 20A and includes a drug vial bottle 21 having a recess of the drug vial 22 and an opening of the drug vial 23 sealed by a closure of the drug vial 24. The opening of the drug vial 23 has a rim of the extreme upper drug vial 26. The drug vial 20 contains a drug component 27. The liquid drug transfer assembly 100A is preferably packaged in a blister pack 101A having an inner surface 102 and a protective seal 103.
[0046] [00046] Figures 1 to 3 show the liquid drug transfer assembly 100A which includes a puncture member of the drug vial closure 110 having a longitudinal axis of the puncture member of the drug vial closure 111 and a vial adapter drug pack 120. The blister pack 101A is formed and sized to comfortably fit the liquid drug transfer assembly 100A inside and used to mount it in the drug vial 20. The puncture member of the closure of the drug vial 110 has a tip for puncture the closure of the drug vial 112 to pierce the closure of the drug vial 24 and a transverse directed head 113.
[0047] [00047] The drug vial adapter 120 has a longitudinal axis of the drug vial adapter 121 and includes a drug vial adapter skirt 122 having the upper surface of the transversely directed drug vial adapter 123 formed with a vertical port of the drug ampoule adapter 124 and a wide variety of six downward dependent drug ampoule adapter flexing members 126. The flexing members of the drug ampoule adapter 126 are provided with internal directed protrusions 127 for snap fit into the opening of the drug ampoule 23 and define a body part of the drug ampoule adapter 128 to comfortably receive the opening of the drug ampoule 23. The flexing members of the drug ampoule 126 define a skirt edge of the ampoule adapter drug 129 externally enlarged with respect to the body part of the drug vial adapter 128 to assist in guiding the drug vial adapter 120 into the ampoule the drug 20. The adapter port of the drug vial 124 is preferably implemented as a female Luer connector for engaging the needle-free syringe thread 10 therein. Alternatively, the drug vial adapter port 124 can be formed with a large diameter, for example, to allow the gravitational flow of the viscous liquid drug contents of a drug vial 20.
[0048] [00048] The drug vial adapter 120 also includes a downward dependent drug vial adapter sleeve 131 opposite the drug vial adapter port 124 and in fluid communication with it. The drug vial adapter 120 including the drug vial adapter port 124 and the drug vial adapter sleeve 131 can be formed as a single molded plastic injection unit of the same suitable plastic material, for example, polycarbonate, and similar. The drug vial adapter adapter sleeve 131 for the drug vial closure clamp puncture tip 112 in an initial configuration position of the liquid drug transfer assembly 100A so that the drug vial closure clamp puncture tip 112 projects beyond. Thus, the puncture tip of the drug vial closure 112 contacts a drug vial closure 24 before the drug vial adapter sleeve 131 in the liquid drug transfer assembly 100A in the drug vial 20.
